Brody Michael Youth Athletics Fund

Brody Michael Youth Athletics Fund

The Rotary Club of Front Royal shall establish the Brody Michael Community Youth Athletic Fund to honor Brody Michael. The program aligns with both Rotary International's Avenue of Service (Youth Service) and Areas of Focus (Maternal and Child Health).

The purpose of the fund is to honor the life of Brody Michael. Brody was a Skyline High School freshman, Interact member and traveling basketball player when he unexpectedly passed away. He is the son of Rotarian Cory and Kristie Michael. This fund will help continue his passion for sports (especially basketball) in our community.

Fund proceeds will be used to help underwrite the costs of Warren County-based youth recreational and travel athletic programs for kids who would otherwise not be able to participate.

The fund shall be maintained with the Northern Shenandoah Valley Community Foundation. Funds available each year will be determined by taking 4% of the three-year average as of June 30 of each year.

Distribution of the funds:

In June of each Rotary year the board will determine the amount of money available for the grants and notify the local athletic groups of the grant availability.

Warren County-based recreational and travel athletic boards may apply for a matching grant to underwrite the registration and other costs (i.e., travel, equipment, uniforms, etc.) for kids who cannot afford the cost of participation.

The applying organization must match the club’s grant with their own funds.

The receiving organizations will make a report in March of the following year of how many kids

participated in their athletic program because of the fund.

The club will recognize the fund and its contribution to the community during the Student-

Athlete and Student-Art Scholarship Award event.
